Organ donation is a complicated and emotive subject. Great granddad Michael Willis was given this gift after suffering from a terminal lung condition. After a successful transplant operation, he and his wife set up a foundation to raise awareness and encourage people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register so that many more lives can be saved and improved. Around three people die every day, who are in need of an organ, and thankfully Michael was lucky to find a donor. In Spring 2020, the law is changing. All adults in England will be considered to have agreed to be an organ donor when they die unless they have opted out, however organ donation still remains an act of great generosity.
